The Syracuse Police Department is awaiting a toxicology report for a Syracuse University student who died from a fall in the early morning of April 6, said Sgt. Tom Connellan of SPD.

The student was identified as Marianne Guppenberger, a freshman in the College of Arts and Sciences. Guppenberger was from Taipei, Taiwan, and was a resident of Day Hall.

The circumstances of the death have not been released.

Police expect to receive the report in the next few weeks, Connellan said.

SPD would not comment on the status or nature of the case because it is an ongoing investigation, he said.
