Billy Joel’s Syracuse performance scheduled for April 11, 2025, has been rescheduled to April 10, 2026, due to a medical condition, Joel announced on Instagram Tuesday morning. All purchased tickets will be valid for the rescheduled show.

“While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first,” Joel wrote in the post. “I look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans. Thank you for your understanding.”

The current tour will be postponed for four months to allow Joel to recover from a recent surgery and undergo physical therapy. The tour will resume on July 5 in Pittsburgh, forcing the SU show, along with seven others, to move to later this year and early 2026.

The JMA Wireless Dome originally announced the show, along with performances from Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Sting, in a press conference on Sept. 26, 2024. The show will be the eighth time Joel has performed there, marking a record for the Dome.

In 2005, Joel donated $320,000 to the Setnor School of Music. The next year, he earned an honorary doctorate degree from SU and delivered the 2006 commencement address. In 2018, he sported an SU hat on CBS Sunday Morning.
