Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim officially ends his time at SU following his 47th season. SU Athletics made the announcement after the Orange’s loss to Wake Forest in the second round of the ACC Tournament on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.

In 1976, Jim Boeheim becomes head coach of the Syracuse basketball team. He had previously held an assistant coach position starting in 1969.

Before becoming a coach, Jim Boeheim plays for the Orange from 1963-1966. Including his time as a player, Boeheim has been part of the Syracuse community for 60 years.

20 years ago, Boeheim coaches Syracuse to its first-ever national championship. The game was played at the Superdome in Louisiana where Syracuse defeated Kansas.
