Former SU guard Alexis Peterson to play for Germany in 2024 Summer Olympics

Former Syracuse guard Alexis Peterson will compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics for Germany. According to eurobasket.com, the German Basketball Association and USA Basketball agreed on Peterson’s — an Ohio native — change of nationality in recent weeks. She is now a dual citizen between America and Germany.

While playing for the Orange from 2013-17, Peterson averaged 14.8 points, 4.4 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game. Her best season came as a senior in 2016-17, when she was named the ACC Player of the Year and a Second-Team AP All-American by averaging 23.4 points, 7.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game. Peterson also earned All-ACC Defensive Team honors three times (2015-17) and was a two-time First-Team All-ACC recipient (2016, 2017).
Following her time at SU, Peterson was selected No. 15 in the 2017 WNBA Draft by the Seattle Storm. She spent one season with the Storm before embarking on a career overseas. She currently plays for Maccabi Bnot Ashdod in Israel, where she’s been on the roster since 2020.
