The Syracuse Police Department responded to a bullet found inside a SUNY ESF dorm room this morning which police believe was shot through one of its windows the night before, syracuse.com reported Wednesday.
SPD, along with the SUNY ESF University Police Department, responded to a “shots fired” call from ESF’s Centennial Hall at 142 Oakland St. at around 10:50 a.m., SPD Spokesperson Kieran Coffey told syracuse.com. Coffey said no one was injured in the incident.
“A bullet fired from an unknown location broke through a window at Centennial Hall Tuesday night and was found on the floor of a dorm room Wednesday morning,” an ESF spokesperson wrote in a statement to The Daily Orange. “The Syracuse Police Department and ESF University Police Department responded immediately. No one was injured.”
Residents of Centennial Hall as well as the “greater ESF campus” were notified of the incident, according to the ESF spokesperson.
“There is no evidence that Centennial Hall or ESF students were targeted,” the spokesperson wrote.
Police do not yet know where the bullet was shot from, the spokesperson stated, and the incident is still under investigation. SPD encourages anyone with information about the incident to contact its Criminal Investigations Division, which can be reached at (315) 442-5222.
