Syracuse guard Quadir Copeland has entered the transfer portal. The news was first released through an X post from On3’s Joseph Tipton before Copeland confirmed Tipton’s report on a series of Instagram stories.

After appearing sparingly during his freshman year under former head coach Jim Boeheim, Copeland carved out a role as SU’s sixth-man this season. He averaged 9.6 points per game, 4.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists, finishing second in ACC Sixth Man of the Year voting behind Pitt’s Ishmael Leggett.

The sophomore likely leaves Syracuse most well-known for his buzzer-beating 3 to defeat Miami on Jan. 20. Catching a pass from Judah Mintz on the left wing, Copeland swished a contested outside shot to secure a 72-69 win over the Hurricanes.

Copeland was also the only Syracuse player this season to earn Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week honors. He earned the honor on Jan. 2 after putting up a game-high 22-points in a road victory versus Pittsburgh on Dec. 30.

A consensus 3-star recruit out of high school — and part of SU’s six-man recruiting class in 2022 — Copeland joins Justin Taylor and Benny Williams as the third Syracuse player to enter the transfer portal.

Like Taylor, Copeland has three years of eligibility remaining.
