Organizers marched to deliver letters of resignation to the four officials in December, initially demanding they resign by Jan. 13.

#NotAgainSU demanded that Chancellor Kent Syverud and three other Syracuse University officials resign by Friday. None of the officials have vacated their positions.

The movement, led by Black students, demanded Monday that Syverud, Department of Public Safety Chief Bobby Maldonado, DPS Associate Chief John Sardino and Dolan Evanovich, senior vice president for enrollment and the student experience, resign by 11:59 p.m. Friday for their handling of hate crimes and bias-related incidents at SU.

At least 29 racist, anti-Semitic and homophobic incidents have occurred at or near SU since early November. #NotAgainSU has occupied Crouse-Hinds Hall since noon on Monday to continue its ongoing protest of the university’s response to the incidents.

The movement said in a statement Monday that “escalated action would take place” if the officials did not resign or if SU’s Board of Trustees did not remove them by Friday.
