Preview: Rome Free Academy at West Genesee

Laura Angle | Digital Design Editor

Last week, West Genesee needed some late game magic and heroics against Fayetteville-Manlius to secure its best finish since 2011. Two Exavier Brumfield touchdowns in the fourth quarter pushed the Wildcats past the Hornets. The win puts West Genesee at 5-1 for the season, and a win this week against winless Rome Free Academy will secure the Wildcats either a two or three seed in the Section III, Class AA playoffs.

West Genesee quarterback Tyler Cook and halfback Exavier Brumfield played well in last week’s win and should perform well again this week against an RFA defense that is allowing 37 point per game this season. For Rome Free Academy, the Black Knights hope to close out a so-far winless 2018 campaign on a high note with a win over a playoff team. Here’s a preview of this week’s contest at West Genesee High School.
