A man with a black handgun and knife robbed two Syracuse University students just north of campus early Saturday along Madison Street, according to police.
The robbery occurred in the 1200 block of Madison Street, the university’s Department of Public Safety reported in a campus-wide email sent Saturday morning.
No one was injured during the incident, per the DPS alert.
DPS said the unidentified man approached two SU students standing outside their house at about 2:55 a.m. to display “what appeared to be” a black handgun and knife.
He then robbed them of a cellphone and handbag, police said.
Following the robbery DPS said that the suspect, who was described as a 6-foot-tall man in his 20s, fled on foot westbound toward Comstock Avenue.
The 1200 block of Madison Street is located in a residential neighborhood near Thornden Park a few blocks northwest of SU’s Main Campus.
