Class of 2018 safety Cameron Jonas has committed to Syracuse, he announced Monday morning via Twitter. The three-star recruit from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, chose SU over offers from Florida State, Miami, Auburn, Georgia, UCLA, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Pittsburg and North Carolina State, according to 247Sports.com.

Jonas reportedly tore an ACL in practice on Aug. 11, according to Syracuse.com’s Stephen Bailey. Jonas told Bailey he will have surgery on Sept. 6 and that SU’s defensive backs coach Nick Monroe assured Jonas that the season-ending injury would not cause him to lose his scholarship.

The 6-foot-1, 187-pound safety is Syracuse’s fourth recruit this month and third for the class of 2018 in August. He joins wide receiver Ed Hendrix and running back Hassan Hall, who chose SU over Louisville and Georgia Tech. Jonas was recruited by SU’s secondary coach, Nick Monroe, per 247Sports.

He is Syracuse’s No. 16 commit in the 2018 class. Track the rest of the class here.
