Another football setback

With a triple-overtime loss in Charlottesville, Syracuse’s feel-good start to the season was suddenly over. The 44-38 loss came after kicker Cole Murphy missed two deep field goals in regulation (coach Tim Daoust is not concerned, he said) and the defense squandering a 10-point lead.

Gbinije named starting point guard

Michael Gbinije, who started at forward for the most part of last season, will be Syracuse’s 2015-16 starting point guard. He’s been practicing at point guard with Trevor Cooney as his backcourt mate in the last couple weeks.

Field Hockey stays perfect with “toughest weekend” before ACC Tournament

It’d be the Orange’s toughest test before the conference tournament, head coach Ange Bradley said. Sunday, after trailing once and spending most of the game tied, Syracuse needed four second-half goals to overcome Princeton. Roos Weers, the team’s leader in goals, went down with an injury, but returned to score and assist on the tying and first go-ahead goals to help SU set a program-record winning streak.
