Tickets for Seth Meyers stand-up act sell out in 3 days

Tickets to see Saturday Night Live veteran Seth Meyers sold out at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, just two days after going on sale.

The 1,500-seat Goldstein Auditorium will be filled when Meyers performs his stand-up act March 27. The performance, titled “A Night of Comedy with Seth Meyers,” is sponsored by University Union. Doors for the show will open at 7:30 p.m.

Despite the demand for tickets, UU is not considering moving the show to a larger venue, said Sarah Fleischer, UU director of public relations.

“This show is specifically for students, so we want to keep it on campus and easily accessible,” she said.

The sell-out makes the event one of the fastest-selling performing arts shows in University Union history, Fleischer said.

Meyers’ performance didn’t sell out quite as fast as his former SNL cast mate Andy Samberg’s show, which sold out in less than a day when he came in 2010. Comedians Lewis Black and Demetri Martin also performed to sold-out crowds when they visited campus in 2009 and 2011, respectively.

During his 11 seasons on SNL, Meyers has become best known for his six seasons as an anchor on “Weekend Update,” the show’s satirical news segment. Meyers has also served as SNL’s head writer for the past six seasons.
